They traveled to the heart of the timestream, where they encountered a massive, swirling vortex. Plankton, in a surprising display of bravery, volunteered to enter the vortex and retrieve the source of the rift.

It all started when Sandy Cheeks, the intelligent and scientifically-minded squirrel, had been working on a top-secret project in her treedome laboratory. Her latest creation, a time-traveling device, had been years in the making. The contraption, resembling a large, metallic sphere with flashing lights and wires, was nearly complete.

SpongeBob, being his usual curious self, had wandered into Sandy's laboratory, searching for his friend. As he explored the room, he stumbled upon the time-traveling device.
